YOKOHAMA to Supply “ADVAN” Racing Tyres as Control Tyre for WTCR

Tokyo – The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., is pleased to announce that on 3rd February its “ADVAN” racing tyres were adopted as the control tyre for WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup races to be run in 2018–19. Under the two-year contract, YOKOHAMA will supply ADVAN A005 as the dry-surface tyre and ADVAN A006 as the wet-surface tyre for the races. The size of both tyres to be supplied will be 250/660R18.

WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup is the new name for the FIA World Touring Car Championship, which will run to the TCR technical regulations.

YOKOHAMA was named the new series’ sole tyre supplier in recognition of the company’s support for the WTCC for 12 consecutive years, 2006–17. The 2018 WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup is due to take place over 9 events, with the first round to be held in Morocco on7th – 8th April.

Races run under TCR regulations have become popular around the world because of the lower running costs and the close nature of the racing. In addition to the WTCR, YOKOHAMA will be supporting the TCR Europe, TCR UK, TCR Portugal, TCR Benelux, and TCR Middle East racing series. The selection of “ADVAN” tyres as the control tyres for the WTCR is the latest achievement in the brand’s long history, which dates back 40 years to the launch of the “ADVAN HF” in 1978.
