Role Overview
The UK Motorsport & Technical Manager is responsible for leading the company’s motorsport tyre programme across UK racing series, acting as the primary technical interface between the company, race teams, championships and regulatory bodies.
This role combines hands on technical expertise in tyre performance and compounding with strategic relationship management, ensuring the company’s tyres perform to specification at events while strengthening its position and reputation within UK motorsport.
The role requires significant trackside presence (including weekends and evenings during race season), deep technical credibility with engineers and drivers and the ability to translate complex tyre data into actionable guidance for teams and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Warranties
- Manage customer tyre warranty claims, including assessing returned tyres, investigating issues and determining appropriate resolutions.
Technical
- Provide technical support and advice to customers, dealers, vehicle manufacturers and the sales team on tyre applications, compliance and product performance.
- Attend industry tyre technical meetings to stay informed of current and proposed tyre legislation and communicating any changes to UK/EU regulatory requirements to the relevant stakeholders.
- Review and verify tyre specifications and technical data for brochures, catalogues and other marketing materials.
- Deliver technical product training and support marketing activities, exhibitions and industry events.
Motorsport
- Attend shows and motorsport events as technical/marketing support.
- Providing technical advice to dealers and customers on the suitability, selection, setup and performance of motorsport tyres.
- Organising and conducting tests of products at race circuits/rallies etc.
- Liaising with dealers to establish and validate the performance parameters of products.
- Liaising with marketing manager regarding products and event promotions.
- Promoting new sales and new business for race/rally championships etc.
- Managing race and rally tyre supply, sponsorship agreements and associated commercial negotiations.
Requirements & Experience
- Proven experience in a motorsport tyre technical or engineering role
- Strong working knowledge of UK motorsport championships, technical regulations and scrutineering processes
- Hands on experience with tyre data analysis (pressures, temperatures, wear, degradation)
- Excellent communication skills, able to work confidently with engineers, drivers and championship officials
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively, including weekends during race season
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Desirable
- Engineering degree or equivalent technical qualification
- Existing relationships within UK motorsport paddocks/championships
- Experience managing third party contractors or a small trackside team
- Motorsport UK license/accreditation (e.g., scrutineer or technical delegate familiarity)
